"Monday night rehearsal with the Rochester Oratorio Society was my weekly escape from job stress. The focus on the music presented such a different mindset from the many distractions that came with my career in teaching. Now that I am retired, this focus still appeals."

"I began singing with the Rochester Oratorio Society after graduating from college. When I found my first job in another city, I had to give up singing with ROS. Over the thirteen years that I lived in other places, I never found another chorus of the same caliber. Four years ago, I moved back to Rochester and re-joined ROS. Singing with new friends and old in ROS has brought me back full circle – I'm home again!"

Join the Chorus

The Rochester Oratorio Society welcomes auditions for all voice parts.  Vocalists with good musical skills are invited to join Rochester's premier choral ensemble. If you read music and have singing experience, you are encouraged to apply.

Auditions are 10 to 12 minutes long. Singers are asked to sing a classical song or aria of their choice, preferably in a language other than English, and a prepared selection sent in advance of the audition. Singers may also be asked to sight-read, vocalize or repeat spoken phrases. An accompanist will be provided.

Requesting an Audition
