Rochester's Classical Idol is a juried vocal competition with audience participation. Classical Idol seeks the best emerging vocal talent in the classical music genre.

The Rochester Oratorio Society invites Classical Idol singers to perform selections from opera, oratorio, art song or musical theater before a panel of judges who provide immediate feedback. Classical Idol 5 (in 2011) welcomed 71 entrants hailing from 7 countries. Ten finalists were chosen to compete before a live audience for cash prizes.

1st Prize:		$2,000 and an opportunity to perform a solo in concert with the Rochester Oratorio Society
2nd Prize:		$1,000
3rd Prize:		$500
Audience Favorite:		$200

This fabulous evening entertains experienced music aficionados and inspires those new to classical voice. The evening includes a silent auction and an opportunity to meet the artists and judges at a festive reception with complimentary wine tasting.
