Rochester's Classical Idol is a juried vocal competition with audience participation. Classical Idol seeks the best emerging vocal talent in the classical music genre.

The Rochester Oratorio Society invites Classical Idol singers to perform selections from opera, oratorio, art song or musical theater before a panel of judges who provide immediate feedback. Classical Idol 5 (in 2011) welcomed 71 entrants hailing from 7 countries. Ten finalists were chosen to compete before a live audience for cash prizes.
